Keep fresh, Girl | Don't age too fast.

I just had to make a small mention regarding the Virgin Radio advertising campaign in France. Without wanting to criticise the work of the advertising agency, I cannot help the fact that every time I see the Keep fresh, Girl poster I immediately think of a young woman trapped in a life of drugs and prostitution. Personally I have nicknamed her the ‘smack addict’, which I do not think is entirely the kind of audience Virgin means to target…

    Yeah, don’t age too fast girl or you will be OLD and old is bad and unwelcome. Once again, the ageist ideology wraps itself up nicely. “Keep fresh” as to keep cool and available.

    Agreed – hadn’t considered the ad like that, but it must be said that they’re not only targeting women, but men too. The message is ‘Don’t get old’ whoever you are…
