Marcher dans le Marais

Spring sunshine hit Paris on Tuesday and I set myself the task of going to the Marais, a district to the east of Beaubourg, and taking pictures of the local café culture. Though I had been there a couple of times before, I had no idea what I was in store for, it is so easy to visit the store of BHV, the Hôtel de Ville, the Place des Vosges, Bastille and all those posh boutique shops without realising there is a whole other city in between. In fact there was so much to see that I was often distracted from my original purpose. There was the Hôtel de Sully, some of the oldest medieval dwellings in Paris, the Village St Paul, the Jewish quarter and the enigmatic rue Eginhard. Fantastic and well worth a slow stroll and a good old nosey around. Normally I would post a Google map to go with the walk, but honestly, just get the metro to Hôtel de Ville, to Bastille or to St Paul itself and just get lost!

  1. Wow, it seems I missed out a lot when I was that neighbourhood. But in my defence it was raining..

    Wonderful photos!

I went back a couple of days later, when it was raining, to take more pictures … all I got was a cold! Thanks for your kind comment :)
