It’s been a while, but here, at last, is the latest issue of Design magazine, from September 1968. This issue covers the upcoming Mexico olympics and the cover is by Nicolas Sutton, who based the cover illustration on Lance Wyman’s now famous graphics for the 68 olympics.
I’ve selected, in particular, the article on the Mexico olympics and the designs used in 1968. There is also a small article on the newly built Hayward Gallery in London that was deemed too ugly to house a major Matisse exhibition. The back cover is an advert for an exhibition at the Royal Academy on the Bauhaus movement.
